Buraco is a traditional card game in Brazil and Gazeus' biggest product. It first started over 10 years ago, as a flash game for desktop browsers, and then released for iOS and Android in the following years. We have over 400k DAU, more than 10 millions downloads and a very loyal user base.

The pandemic hit and our whole year roadmap went down, with our company migrating to a remote working environment and adapting their process.

Our users changed as well, increasing online matches more and chat interactions. We found an opportunity in this and decided to remake an old feature, called Play With Friends. It had a lot of potential and with a new UX, we would be able to provide an easy way for our users to invite their friends and play.

Brainstorming

We used Mural to help us choose and prioritize which features should be essential to this new version. We also drafted our user's journey in these sessions.

Benchmark
We made this group exercise where each member of our team should bring a good (or a bad) multiplayer lobby creation experience. With this study we were able to see, through different perspectives, their positive or negative experiences. We could also identify a few pain points to avoid.
Flowchart & Wireframe

Two different user flows:
Host - player that creates the lobby, invite their friends and organizes the pairs (in a 4 players match).
Guest - player that receives an invitation through another messaging app or social media.

User Testing

Before releasing this feature to our users, we organized an internal user testing session. Their feedback helped us to identify some pain points and bugs. We brought our prototype back to the development stage, made all the changes and improvements identified, then a new user testing round to validate them.
